Wild Cupreata Agave is also known as Papalote. It is native to the state of Guerrero, can only be cultivated by nature and is 100% hand crafted.
Mezcal Mayalen Wild Cupreata 50% is from the high mountains from the state of Guerrero with this species grows wild and is ideal for the absorption of mineral, resulting sweet taste specific to Agave Cupreata, known locally as Maguey Papalote. The age of maturity of this Agave Cupreata varies but normally occurs between 7-15 year to ensure an ideal concentration of natural sugars and minerals in the heart of the agave or piña.

Our Guerrero variety was inspired by those who are warriors at heart. It is elegant and potent with a strong herbal kick to it before giving way to white pepper and citrus fruit aromas. Despite its high alcohol content of 54%, it is smooth and holds a full body of flavor making it unbeatably a spirit of pure excellence. It is extremely popular and demanding especially amongst savvy mezcal connoisseurs with a well-balanced and distinguished consistency.
Initial taste of butterscotch and wild berries. Subtle dark chocolate aftertaste makes it ideal for pairing with nuts, berries and chocolate. Cacao, leather, and herbal spice tasting notes continue to the finish.
Mayalen Borrego 49% is inspired by those who have a deep appreciation for sophistication and delicacy. This mezcal is Guerrero’s equivalent to the Pechuga mezcal from Oaxaca. Our Maestro Mezcalero adds fruits, spices and a fresh breast of lamb after the second distillation. In the third distillation this infusion results in a meaty, spicy, herbal, finish, balanced with silken flavors. This mezcal is an exclusive recipe that has been used by the Maestro Mezcalero’s family for many generations.
Complex with fresh cut grass, lavender and clove aroma. Earthen flavors and floral and citric notes coat the palate long after each sip.
Our Plata 50.4% label is the base from where we constructed the essence of Mayalen. Our first spirit produced in the town of Mochitlán, Guerrero, Plata 50.4 is 100% artisanal. Its cooking process is in an earthen oven double distilled in a copper still custom made for our Palenque. It is a well-balanced fusion allowing a unique experience of quality from start to finish.
